Description:

The 2003 Vintage declared by the Krug champagne house has been nicknamed 'Vivacit Solaire' (Vivacious Radiance), highlighting the story of the unexpectedly hot summer of 2003. The exceptional weather delivered this vintage showcasing fruit, freshness, balance, expressiveness and vivacity together at once. The wine has a subtle yellow gold colour, highlighting a reserved finesse. On the nose, aromas of citrus, plum, honey and brioche. To taste, there are flavours of fresh summer fruits, a bright zesty red grapefruit and candied peel, roast chestnuts and caramelised apple tart. The 2003 vintage was one of extremes, and not merely in regard to the hot summer. The harvest began earlier than any other since 1822 and was also the longest harvest in living memory. While the heat brought over-ripeness to some grapes, it also brought a surprising under-ripeness elsewhere as the vines protected themselves by halting maturation. This extraordinary vintage has been released after almost ten years in Krug's cellars, though will continue to develop for many years to come. !!<Background: >!!The release of a Krug Vintage is always an inspiring moment. Only in outstanding years does Krug declare a vintage, and to earn that prized definition, a harvest must demonstrate personality of a single year, expressed with all the intensity and elegance of the legendary Krug style. Presented in a brown and gold Krug Vintage 2003 branded box.
